Just when it was getting real interesting with a seemingly inescapable end game, our hero was had. It was as if the writer ran out of energy. Surely a plot line could have continued with a more death or law defying ending, a bigger more complicated double cross on Wyatt. Instead it ended with a HUH?. With a better ending Adam could have been a continued Hero left to fight and get into more scrapes again elsewhere. The world needs more Robin Hoods.

I "read" the audio version of this book and, until the last chapter, would have given it a 5-star rating. Adam is an interesting narrator with a great voice, flawed and yet touchingly hopeful, and in one hell of a fix. The story's short chapters (of which there are almost a hundred) and multiple twists and cliff-hangers make from great suspense and, frankly, I enjoyed reading a thriller that doesn't depend on killers or kidnappers to bring the suspense! But then I got to the end of the book and found myself immensely frustrated, especially after so many hours listening to get there. It just... stops. I felt certain that the audio version had left out a page, a paragraph, even a LINE to clarify the end, but double-checked the print copy and, yeah, that's how it ends. I'd been hoping I'd found a writer I could really enjoy, but to me a good read is like an investment, and this one didn't pay off. So much for Finder. Those of you with a higher tolerance for the indeterminate, however, may very much enjoy Paranoia.

I read this while on vacation, and sent a review on my Kindle - I thought. Didn't appear here! Anyway, I loved the book - it was an easy read and kept me interested. Others here thought it was poorly written. Not so! It was written through the eyes of a 27 yr old slacker, and it wouldn't have been as interesting had he been portrayed in Shakespearean verse. Tech-iness, business, and brand name-ism made it a lot of fun and I hope to see a movie called PARANOIA soon!

This story goes from one implausible event to another, leading the remarkably unsympathetic protagonist in a juvenile and predictable rags-to-riches/zero-to-hero story. Along the way the reader is brought in to a world of supposedly high-tech corporate culture about which the author apparently has even more ignorance than he has contempt. The characters are shallow, the plot is unengaging, and the first-person narrative makes reading it like living inside the head of a very dull person.



If drivel like this can get published and so well reviewed, it should give confidence to every aspiring writer out there, no matter how bad.

This is our second time purchasing this product. We bought one years ago for our middle child and it is still going strong. We bought two more to put in the rest of the children's bedrooms. It is a pain finding the replacement filters but they last a really long time. Amazon has these at a great price and it is a nice little machine. We like them so much we even take them with us when we drive and travel on vacation. Very light weight and does the job for a good price.

I bought this unit in December and regularly use it overnight in my bedroom with the door closed. On two occasions, it helped alert me that our natural gas was leaking. I live in an old 1940s apartment with a conventional gas stove with two pilot lights, and it's not unusual for the pilot lights to go out. However, it's not easy to notice the natural gas smell if you've been inside for a long time getting used to the smell.



So one morning I wake up, and when I walk out of my bedroom, I smell a STRONG natural gas smell because both pilot lights were out overnight, allowing natural gas to leak throughout our apartment. My roommate noticed the smell, too, although he didn't have an air purifier in his room. Two days later, ONE of the pilot lights goes out overnight and I notice the smell again, but it's not as strong this time. My roommate without the air purifier DID NOT notice the smell. My bedroom was the safe haven that helped me distinguish clean air from toxic air.



This is a very handy, small, and not-too-noisy unit. I have thoroughly enjoyed using it, and besides filtering out natural gas, I have noticed a difference in filtering out dust, etc, in my old dusty apartment.



It is true that this unit is discontinued, so stock up on replacement filters while you can. Filters are available on amazon: Hamilton Beach TrueAir 04712 Allergen Reducing Filter. When I purchased this unit in December 2008, I could tell it was about to be discontinued, so I bought five extra filters. They recommend that you replace them every 4-6 months, but that's probably only if you leave it on max power 24/7. Use your own judgement. I don't have it on all the time, and when I do run it, it's on medium or low. I don't expect to replace the filters but once every 1-2 years. That means this will last me 5-10 years with the extra filters I stocked up on. There are also plenty of other air purifiers out there that probably work just as well.

I've been using this for 3 nights now and just this morning realized that I am waking up not congested or stuffy in the morning. What a change especially during hay fever season! Hope it helps my niece when she visits in a few weeks, she is allergic to cats (so am I but I'm used to ours).



Found filters online at filters-now.com, they make a replacement that fits this machine for about $13 each, flat rate shipping of $8 so I will order several replacements at once.

I would not recommend buying this piece of junk to anyone.



I received one as a give about 2 years back and it worked for all of maybe a month. It has a little 2 inch fan (almost looks like a computer fan!) that pulls air in through the back vents past the tiny little collection grid that never had anything stuck to it. The fan failed after about a month and turned the unit into a useless piece of trash.



Do not buy.

My parents got me one of these units for Christmas, since I have asthma and allergies and so had asked for an air purifier. My first impression was it looks small and cheap; therefore, I am quite surprised researching now to discover it to be the price that it is. I kept checking the unit periodically to see whether it needed cleaned, like if it's working, then stuff is supposed to collect that is supposed to be periodically cleaned - nothing was ever needing cleaned, and now I have one of the worst cases of bronchitis that I've had in several years. I'm junking it, and today bought a higher quality, much better, double filtration unit at Menard's, on sale for $29. I can now tell a noticeable difference. I would not recommend the Bell Howell air purifier to anyone. It's way overpriced and plainly stated, it does nothing to purify the air.

I bought this item through Amazon. If you sit next to it you can tell by the smell that it's working slightly. But, it isn't real abundant and it wears out quickly. It's not as powerful as they claim. I would have bought a different cleaner and actually am looking for a different one to replace this one. I need something stronger. My room is only 10 X 10 that it is in...hardly can tell it works.

I purchased two of the Ionic Breeze Professionals with the added ultraviolet bulb that help to kill bacteria. Based on the amount of black gunk that collects on the metal grids each time I clean it, it must be working. I have read the Consumer Reports that it emits unhealthy ozone and the air does have that after a thunderstome smell, but I have not experienced any breathing problems. My wife is a very heavy smoker (unfortunately) and I think these units are removing a lot of the tobacco smell and particulates. Some reviews say the ozone emitted is so low, it isn't really a concern anyway. Not sure who is right. I have found that the low odor water based Goof Off in the orange spray bottle cleans the black gunk right off the grids. Spray on, let it sit for a minute, wipe off with paper towels, rinse off with water and be sure all parts are completely dry before re-assembling and turning the unit on again.

I've had my unit for a year now. Yes, it does work. All you need to do is look at the blades and see that it collects alot of dark black particles out of the air that you would be breathing into your body. I also have a Bionaire filter cleaner that does not work nearly as well and is alot noisier. The only negative to the Ionic Breeze is the ESD it gives off that affects any electronic products nearby. Keep it away from stereos, tv's, computers etc. I think I damaged by DSL modem by placing the IB next to it.

Mine picks up a lot of dust. I have to clean it every few days. The blades turns completely black. You must buy it with the ozone guard, otherwise it will be unhealthy. One great thing the unit does is get rid of bad smell. Once I forgot to open the fireplace vent when i lit the fire and smoke filled the house. I used it suck up all the dust and the smell. I was able to get back in my place to sleep that night without breathing problem. Of course i also needed to vacuum and clean all the surfaces. I think this unit is only helpful. The most important thing is to vacuum your carpet and to clean your house often.

Sorry, I have waisted money and time (a little over a year since the first one was bought) with this model. I have Sharper Image's bathroom (small space)model--no problems in a year but I am afraid to try one of their bigger models after the tabletop mess.

DO NOT buy a product from Sharper Image. I sent an Ionic Breeze back for repair in January 2009 and it was returned to me today May 11, 2009! Their repair section refused the package multiple times and since the postal service eventually returned it to me I can't even file a claim for the now completely destroyed item. I am so angry because the phone numbers listed on the website are "no longer in service" and I can't reach anyone to shout at other than the poor souls who chose to read this. I will never purchase another item that has anything to do with this company. By the way, the address I used to send the item to was on the back of my warranty card. What a joke!!!

I loved this air cleaner. I, too, cleaned it often as the directions suggest if not cleaned it can burn out. I used this in my bedroom and while it worked, it was great. Not even a year and it suddenly just stopped working. No light, no cleaning. The Sharper Image website is down stating something great is coming. I just hope it will be a replacement for my broken machine but I won't get my hopes up per the previous comment I read here.

I have to clean these at least once a week. They may not keep up with a HEPA filter (I don't own one to test against), but they work quite well and are QUIET.



These things even help keep down the smells (I have newborns).

I clean them every couple of weeks but there isn't much dirt collected in them and they don't seem to do anything - I can't believe that these are selling at such a high price and all the hype is just that. They don't do anything, they certainly don't clean the air or help with allergies and they are a complete waste of money. I can't believe that I was stupid enough to purchase two of them thinking that the Sharper Image advertisements were actually true. Don't waste your money!

I purchased this after recommendation of a friend. I have awful year round allergies, particularly to dust, dust mites, mold and pollen. I was amazed on the first night, I had the best night sleep and my sinus felt great. I'm amazed at the amount of air bourne pollution it grabs. Keeping it clean weekly keeps it running in top condition.

Really the Sharper Image ionic breeze is the best!!!!!!!!!

I've tried other air purifiers but this one has done what it claims. I've purchased two and run them 24 hours. I'm glad that them.

I did a lot of research on room air purifiers, Some were only ionizers, some had hepa filters. The Honeywell has both options. It has a soft filter in front and a hepa filter behind that. Three speed settings the lowest is pretty quiet the highest is noisy, but if there is smoke or dust just blast it on for like 15 minutes. I recommend getting a small table fan to assist to blow air into the unit, it helps. The unit works as advertised. Priced at around 50 very good deal. Unit has a nightlight feature and the ionizer has a light as well



Small gripes,knock down one star... Very short cord. The is supposed to be placed 3 feet from the wall and not us an extension cord, hey give us a 10 foot cord please. The Ionizer only works while the hepa filter is on not independently, although there are two separate switches. Also the switch for the hepa filter is in reverse order you have to slide it past the high setting in order to turn it off, which gets noisy if someone else is sleeping in the room.



Overall very good, I use it in a 12X12 bedroom works fine. Had it one month now so I waited for a review. The filters are permanent but if something happens they can be purchased from the company website.

Had this product running constantly in a small room for about 6 months. I know it did something at least, because I had to clean both filters frequently due to dust. But it never did much of anything against the cigarette smell (I don't smoke, but the rest of the house does). After a few months it began to emit a seriously bad odor. I cleaned everything and let it sit for a few weeks, then let it run for a couple of hours outside. The smell remained. I thought about changing the filter, but golly, isn't it supposed to be permanent? Buyer beware.
